Privacy Policy

SciSens is a classroom teaching tool run by Adil Mohammad, a sole proprietor trading as SciSens, Kolkata, West Bengal, India ("SciSens", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we collect from teachers and school staff who use SciSens, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By using SciSens you agree to this policy.

1. Who SciSens is for

SciSens is used only by teachers and school staff. Students do not have accounts, do not sign in, and we do not collect any personal data from students. SciSens is not intended for anyone under 18 to sign up on their own.

2. Data we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, school name, role (teacher or school staff), and the subjects and classes assigned to you.
  • Sign-in data: your email and an encrypted (hashed) password. We never see or store your password in readable form.
  • Usage activity: which simulations you open, when you sign in, and how long you use them. School staff can see this activity for the teachers in their school.
  • Feedback and support messages: anything you send us through the feedback form or by email, including your email address.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and basic request logs, created automatically by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.

We do not collect payment card details on the site, and we do not ask for government ID numbers.

3. How we use your data

  • To create and run your account and show you the right simulations.
  • To let school staff see usage for their own school.
  • To send account emails such as invitations and password resets.
  • To answer support requests and read your feedback.
  • To keep SciSens secure, prevent misuse and fix problems.
  • To improve our simulations, using usage patterns.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

4. Cookies and tracking

SciSens uses only essential cookies that keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers.

5. Who handles data for us

We use trusted providers to run SciSens. They process data only to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase: database and sign-in (servers in South Korea).
  • Vercel: website hosting (servers may run in India and the United States).
  • Resend: sending account emails.
  • Cloudflare: domain, DNS and email forwarding.

Because these providers operate internationally, your data may be processed outside India. We share data only with these providers, with your school where this policy allows, or where the law requires it.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account or your school's plan is active. After the account ends, or after you ask us to delete it, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days. We may keep limited records longer where the law requires, or for security and dispute purposes.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards: encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access limited to authorised people. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your data occurs, we will tell the affected schools and users and the authorities as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you,
  • correct or update it,
  • delete it,
  • or withdraw your consent, which may mean we can no longer provide your account.

Send requests to support@scisens.app from the email on your account. We reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

9. Grievance contact

If you have a complaint about how your data is handled:

We acknowledge complaints within 7 days and aim to resolve them within 30 days.

10. Schools and teacher data

If your school gave us your details, the school confirms it is allowed to share them with us for running SciSens. If you think your details were given without your knowledge, contact us and we will look into it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email or on the dashboard. Continuing to use SciSens after a change means you accept it.
